Finding an Arbitrator or Mediator
When the Institute is asked to recommend and appoint a mediator or an arbitrator the Institute will, on a rotation basis, select from the BCAMI arbitrator or mediator Referral list, based on experience, expertise, nature and location of the dispute, a C.Arb (Chartered Arbitrator) or a C.Med. (Chartered Mediator), persons granted Member status, or members known to be experienced arbitrators or mediators.
Referral & Appointment Process
The Institute will:
- Assess and review the nature of your dispute, the location and the parties involved.
- Send to both parties for mutual selection, a list of qualified BCAMI dispute resolution practitioners with knowledge and expertise in the area of your dispute. We will also send the BCAMI Rules for commercial mediation or commercial arbitration.
- Assist you to determine if your dispute calls for arbitration or mediation.
